 Randy Lewis was a professional race car driver before retiring to his second passion producing wines with his wife Debbie and son Dennis. As you can see from my enthusiastic reviews below, they produce some of my favorite wines.

May 22, 2009 - Lewis Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 - RM 91 WS 91 - Complex, currant, black cherry, blackberry, anise, leather and spice, with smooth firm tannins on the finish. First bottling of Lewis Napa Cab from three small hillside vineyards. Drank at birthday dinner at Angeli's Restaurant w/ L, R&M, E&J, Marlene, Megan, and Alec serving!
March 8, 2007  - Lewis Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 - RM 93 WS 93 - Dark, full bodied, rich black currant, black raspberry, and cedar on a long full firm tannin finish.
Aug 6, 2005 - Lewis Cellars Alec's Blend Napa Valley Syrah 2001 - RM 92 - Full firm rich berry, currant, raspberry and sweet milk chocolate on a long smooth fruit-filled finish.
Oct 7, 2004 – Lewis Cellars Ethan’s Napa Valley Syrah 2000 – RM 88 $57 – Dark medium bodied, forward fruit filled mouthful of currant, plum and a hint of smoky cedar accentuated by a lasting mid-palate mild mocha through the finish. Tasted at Legal Seafood in Boca Raton who have upgraded and extended their winelist significantly in recent years to WS Award of Excellence prominence. They offer a selection of half bottles that include high end offerings such as Quintessa ($55) and Opus and a selection of wine flights. Wine prices are reasonable. 
Dec 19, 2003 - Lewis Cellars Alec's Blend Napa Valley Syrah 2001 RM 91 $45 Named for Dennis Lewis's son. The 2001is 60% Syrah and 40% Merlot. Its big rich and complex loaded with blackberry fruit, mocha, sweet oak and vanillin spice. Label .
Feb 6, 2003 - Lewis Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1998 -  WS 91 RM 91 $70 Label; Review; Third review of this wine this year. Dark, rich, ripe, mouthful of black cherry, currant, plum, blackberry, anise, with a firm finish  - perfect compliment to a delightful dinner at Cab's in Glen Ellyn. Kudo's to Cab's for holding many of the prices on their winelist. LJ and R.

Dec 5, 2002  Lewis Cellars Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 1999 RM 94 $79 Awesume. Dark, rich, ripe, mouthful of currant, plum, blackberry, black cherry, anise, and leather with a firm finish of soft tannins. One of my favorites of this vintage. Tasted again w/ RC at Capital Grill in WDC. Label, Review, Web.

6 May 2002 -  1998 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - WS 91 RM 92 $70 Label, Review; Another fabulous wine and dine experience at Aureole, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. Andrew Bradbury's world class virtual wine-list on a wireless tablet PC at your table can be previewed on the web at www.ewinetower.com. I asked about the Lewis which wasn't on the list and he produced it anyway. He then complemented it with the  

April 6, 2002 - 1998 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - WS 91 RM 92 $70 Label; Dark, rich, ripe, mouthful of currant, plum, blackberry, black cherry, anise, with a firm finish of soft tannins - perfect compliment to our fabulous dinner.
April 3, 2002 - 1998 Lewis Merlot - WS 88 RM 90 $45 Label - Ripe, currant, plum and berry fruit, touch of cedar & soft tannic oak finish. 1999 Duckhorn Merlot, WS 88 RM 89 $44 Label- Forward, tight, ripe dark berry and cherry fruit. 1999 Neyers Merlot WS 90 RM 88 $36. Forward tight black cherry, plum, vanilla and cedar. Merlot match-up at clubby RL's (Ralph Lauren) in Chicago - with TR, Steve E, KC, and OEM friends. Interestingly, my, our consensus ranking was opposite the WS ratings.
May 13, 2001 - 1997 Lewis Napa Alec's Blend $45 (WS89 RM91) Great, fun wine for Mother's day, with the big Laverne like 'L' on the cap for  Linda (my wife), mother of our son Alec, this wine commemorates producer and former Indy racer Randy and Debbie Lewis's grandson, born on the day of harvest of these grapes, as I recall.  Unique blend of 65% Cab, 20% Syrah, and 15% Petit Verdot. Flavorful black cherry and blackberry, with touch of tobacco and long finish of anise,  tannins, and a touch of vanilla. Check out their reviews and their websiteLabel.
