1981 Parker : 91/100Parker n° Bordeaux Book 1998 (01/01/1998) : 91 - This wine is close to full maturity, but it is capable of holding for another two decades. It reveals the classic Lafite bouquet of red and black fruits, cedar, fruitcake, and tobacco-like aromas. In the mouth, this medium ruby/garnet-colored wine displays a delicacy of fruit and sweet attack, but subtle, well-defined flavors ranging from tobacco, cigar box, cedar, and fruitcake. This is a savory, soft Lafite-Rothschild that is pleasing to both the intellect and the palate.

Chateau Lafon-Rochet

  St. Estephe
2003 - 50% Cabernet Sauvignon / 40% Merlot / 10% Cabernet Franc Characteristics: Dry, Medium- to Full-Bodied, Long Finish Years Drinkable: 2010 - 2025 Parker Score: 90 Parker Review: A sleeper of the vintage, the dense blue/purple-colored 2003 Lafon-Rochet exhibits plenty of blackberry, cassis and graphite along with a touch of toasty new oak. The wine is more backward than expected, but it possesses full-bodied, concentrated flavors as well as good elegance, purity, and overall equilibrium. This is a long-distance runner.
Steve Tanzer Score: 91 Steve Tanzer Review: Good deep red-ruby. Extravagantly ripe, exotic aromas of roasted dark fruits and roasted meat. Large-scaled, fat and full, with atypical sweetness nicely leavened by harmonious acidity. Creamy, dense and full for Lafon-Rochet. Finishes with smooth tannins and excellent palate-saturating length. A great vintage for this chateau.
Wine Spectator Score: 90 Wine Spectator Review: Very exciting aromas of crushed blackberry and lightly smoky barrels. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a medium finish. A bit tight but balanced.

2003 - 92 points Robert Parker: "In less than five years this property has emerged as one of the appellation’s up and coming stars thanks to the infusion of money from the American conglomerate, Colony Capital, as well as the braintrust that now oversees the winemaking, Yves Vatelot (of Reignac fame) and the internationally renowned oenologist, Michel Rolland. The dark plum/ruby-hued, open-knit 2003 offers a big, sweet nose of barbecue smoke, plum liqueur, creme de cassis, flowers, new saddle leather, and damp earth. Loads of black fruits, a full-bodied palate impression, low acidity, and a savory, expansive mouthfeel suggest it can be drunk in 2-3 years, or cellared for 15+." (04/06) 91 points Wine Spectator "Aromas of blackberry and chocolate follow through to a full-bodied palate, with big velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Best after 2010." (03/06)

1990 - WS 100 - "Full-bodied, with layers of silky fruit and masses of currant, mineral, and berry character. Amazing. It's a wine with perfect structure, perfect strength."
1986 - Tasted from my cellar, the 1986 has consistently been outstanding, falling short of being sublime. The spicy, peppery bouquet reveals aromas of dried herbs and red currant fruit. Medium-bodied, austere, but youthful, vigorous, and concentrated, this wine still requires 4-5 years of cellaring. 90 pts. Robert Parker - Jan 19, 2002

1981 - 750's+Imperial - Erin's birth-year signature wine. Aug 6, 2005 - WS 90 -RP 88 - The 1981 tastes remarkably velvety and supple for such a young Latour--not that this is a malevolent occurrence--because the excellence, complexity, and richness of the wine are still present. The color is dark ruby, the bouquet offers plenty of ripe cassis and spicy oak, and the flavor is generous, silky, moderately tannic, and long in the finish. This Latour may turn out to be similar to the 1971. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 9/90. Drink by : 1990-2005

Chateau Leoville Las Cases St Julian
  Grand Vin Bordeaux
  1999
  1994
1993 - RP 90 - "A very great wine for a vintage reputed to be difficult. A masterpiece."
1990 -  Wine Advocate 96 pts - The 1990 reveals a dense, dark purple color, followed by a sweet, pure nose of black fruits, minerals, lead pencil, and vanillin. Broad, expansive flavors come across as rich, pure, and concentrated, but never heavy or coarse. Beautifully integrated tannin and acidity are barely noticeable in this classic, full-bodied, velvety-textured, youthful yet exceptional St.-Julien."
1989 - WS 90 - "Very fresh aromas of dried cherries, blackberries and wet earth. Full-bodied, with extremely well-integrated, silky tannins and a fresh blackberry and mint aftertaste. Slightly dry and funky on the finish. Try it a bit later. A Las Cases that's rather rustic. Best after 2003."

Parker # 109 (2/1/1997) : 91 Maturity: 2005-2025 - My notes on the 1989 and 1990 wines have been consistent over the last three years. The 1989 continues to lose ground, although it is obviously an outstanding wine, while the 1990 continues to escalate in quality. The 1989 tasted California-like in its ripe, sweet, black-cherry fruit, nicely-integrated, toasty new oak, and clean, pure winemaking style. A tighter, more compact finish is the result of elevated tannin, but this is an outstanding, rich, medium-weight Las Cases that tastes less well-endowed than I originally predicted. It is built more along the lines of the classy, elegant 1985 than the blockbuster 1982 and 1986. The wine is still youthful, with no amber at the edge of its healthy deep ruby/purple color. It will improve for another 8-12 years, and then plateau, offering very fine drinking over the subsequent two decades.

1988 - This aromatic wine presents a deep and intense color, great tannins and a perfectly balanced bouquet. A fine guess! A splendid wine at a very low price.
1855 Notation:
Parker Notation: 92 / 100
1986 - With a dark, nearly black color, the Leoville las Cases 1986 is a fine and delicious red wine. Its intense and powerful bouquet blends blackcurrant, cherry and oaky aromas, which contribute to this vintage's richness. A very grand cru classé for a superb vintage.

Parker # 101 (10/1/1995) : 97 - This tasting consisted of each of the varietal components of Las Cases, followed by the final blend for Leoville-Las Cases. The 1986 vintage was a great success for Leoville-Las Cases, and each component wine revealed the intensity, power, ripeness, and concentration of this vintage. Nevertheless, as marvelous as the single wines were, the assemblage once again proved that the whole was better than any individual part. The 1986 Merlot, one of the richest cuvees of this educational tasting, offered a superb, roasted coffee, jammy black-cherry sweetness, opulent, dense, concentrated, full-bodied flavors, and a soft, heady, lush finish. The Cabernet Franc exhibited a jammy black-cherry sweetness, as well as plenty of black fruits, herbs, and spicy scents, medium body, and a supple finish. The opaque purple-colored Cabernet Sauvignon possessed gobs of sweet tannin, awesome concentration and intensity, and a full-bodied, powerful, youthful palate. The 1986 Petit Verdot is amazing, from its saturated black/purple color to its gigantic framework.. This wine was crammed with scents of cedar, black fruits, and Asian spices, as well as jammy, tannic fruit flavors. The 1986 Leoville-Las Cases, which Delon believes is his finest vintage (even eclipsing the 1982), exhibited a black/purple color with no signs of age. This full-bodied, brilliantly delineated, super-concentrated wine is close to perfection. Still unevolved and youthful, it needs another 7-10 years of cellaring.

Wine Spectator (2/15/1992) : 95 - Firm and focused, with beautifully articulated currant, raspberry and nutmeg aromas and flavors; very supple for such a lean-textured Bordeaux. Approaching drinkability, but it can use until 2000 to soften. 1855 Notation:Parker Notation: 98 / 100

1985 - With a dark, nearly black color, the Leoville las Cases 1986 is a fine and delicious red wine. Its intense and powerful bouquet blends blackcurrant, cherry and oaky aromas, which contribute to this vintage's richness. A Las Cases produced from a fine harvest. A remarkable Cru Classé. 1855 Notation:Parker Notation: 93 / 100
1981 - Jan 15, 2006, Dec 17, 2006 - A very good Las Cases which can still age with more time.

2002 92-94 points from the Wine Spectator: "Fantastic aromas of ripe currants, spices, cedar and incense. Full-bodied, with soft and velvety tannins and a long, currant and mineral finish. Serious for the vintage. Better than 2001." (04/03)
90-92 points Robert Parker: "A classic offering possesses the weight of the 1999, but without that vintage's charm, this structured, tannic 2002 offers a dense ruby/purple color, medium to full body, and the tell-tale black currant and earthy nose. There is good power on the attack, mid-palate and finish. It will need 2-3 years of cellaring, and should age nicely for 12-15 years. If more texture and length develop with bottle age (and they should), this wine will merit an outstanding score. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020." (10/03)

Parker n° 129 (26/06/2000) : 94
This wine has provided terrific drinking since it was bottled. It may turn out to be a vintage such as 1982, which never shut down. The dark plum/purple color reveals some lightening at the edge. A big, sweet, plum, licorice, beef blood, and jammy cassis-scented bouquet with smoked herbs and new wood in the background soars from the glass. More enjoyable and accessible than the massive yet tannic 1989, this low acid, concentrated, velvety-textured wine continues to offer sumptuous drinking. It is one of my favorite Lynch Bages vintages to drink now, although it will be even more stunning in 10-15 years. Drink by : -2020
