94 RP 95 Robert Parker/Wine Advocate #167 Oct 2006.
While the deep plum/ruby/garnet-tinged 2003 Shiraz
Command is slightly less nuanced than the 2002, it is just
as powerful and full-bodied, offering copious quantities of
fruit, glycerin, tannin, and muscle. This chewy, rich
offering appears to be on a faster evolutionary track than
its 2002 counterpart. Give it another 2-3 years of bottle
age, and consume it over the following 12-15. |

Parker:95
'Full-bodied, opulent, and viscous, with huge, but sweet
tannin, decent acidity, and a muscular, long, 40+ second
finish, this is a classic, potentially long-lived, Barossa
blockbuster.'
Spectator:93 'Rich,
dense and velvety, distinctive for its blueberry,
boysenberry and spice flavors, shaded with subtle cocoa and
tar notes, lingering beautifully on the subtle, generous
finish.'

Wine
Advocate #161 (Oct 2005) Robert Parker 95 points Drink
2005-2020. The 2001 Shiraz Command exhibits a slightly more
roasted character than the 2002 as well as a hint of espresso
in the nose, a touch more alcohol, and more elevated tannin.
It also possesses tremendous concentration, intensity, and
power, yet remains remarkably well-balanced and pure. This
3,000-case cuvee is one of South Australia’s great classics.
It should drink well for 15 years.
Elderton
Shiraz Barossa Command 2001 $US74 : One of Australia's modern
classics, Command is a big Shiraz that does not go over the
top. Its silky tannins and rich flavors add up to an arresting
wine, a seductive Shiraz that oozes with rich cherry, plum,
exotic spice and meat flavors that linger against grace notes
of chocolate and espresso. Delicious stuff, and it's built to
last. Drink now through 2020. 96 points;" Harvey Steiman, Wine

Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon |
|
Ashmead Cabernet
Sauvignon 2005 - WA 96 - Review - “Ashmead” is
sourced from 70-year-old vines yielding a microscopic 0.5
tons per acre. The wine was aged for 18 months in 100% new
French hogsheads (300 liter barrels). Purple in color, this
sensational Cabernet has a splendid nose of pain grille,
graphite, leather, black currant, and blackberry liqueur.
Full-bodied and voluptuous with hidden tannins, this
beautifully balanced wine will develop with 8-10 years in
the cellar and drink well through 2035." WA |

Steve Tanzer
International Wine Cellar - 92-95 - Good medium ruby.
Musky aromas of raspberry and espresso. Dense, sappy and
bright; a compelling combination of sweetness and verve.
Raspberry and coffee flavors lifted by a floral element.
Finishes with thoroughly ripe tannins and impressive
purity and persistence. A superb sample. |

RM 93; RP 95; WS
91; IWC 92 - RM - Dark inky colour. Medium to full bodied,
elegant rich symphony of flavors of sweet currant, pepper,
vanilla, spice, red raspberry, blueberry and a lingering
essence of creme brulee' and cedar on the soft finish.
RP review - "...aged for 18 months in French and
American oak hogsheads with 50% new staves. Purple/black in
color, the wine exhibits a big, brooding bouquet of pain
grille, pepper, Asian spices, blueberry, blackberry, and
licorice. This leads to a full bodied (15.2% alcohol), super
rich plush wine with layers of spicy black fruit flavors,
excellent balance, and a long pure finish. For a wine this
size, it is remarkably light on its feet. Give it 2-3 years
to more fully evolve and drink through 2020. This is quite a
debut for Flinders Run."
WS - "Dense and peppery. A lively mouthful of dark-hued
fruit and spice, lingering on the clear, focused, juicy
finish. Fine tannins frame this nicely. Best from 2009
through 2015. 2,000 cases made." (WS)
International Wine Cellar - "($32) Glass-staining ruby.
Explosively perfumed nose offers a surreal array of dark
fruits, oak spices, flowers and minerals. Fat but focused,
with intense, spicy blackberry, cassis and floral pastille
flavors. Gentle tannins add structure but can't contain the
wine's expansive, sweet personality. Gains strength on the
long, sappy finish. This has enormous immediate appeal."
(IWC)
Winery Notes Attractive deep purple, red with rich
complexities of spicy berry fruits with subtle vannillan
oak. A full flavored wine with berry and licorice characters
to the fore, soft tannins giving it a nice lingering taste.
A robust wine for hearty food. – Mike Farmillo – Leading
Winemaker Boars Rock. Exhibiting rich ripe berry fruit
characters, the colour of black cherries completed by toasty
American and French Oak flavours achieved from lengthy
barrel maturation. The palate is rich, round with spicy
flavours and balanced tannins. |

ruby. Inky, brooding aromas of syrupy black fruits and
violet. Dense, thick and tactile, with superb depth of

powerful tannins and superb grip. Not as flamboyantly
aromatic as this wine normally is in its youth, but
structured for long, slow development in bottle. 93(+?)
