Darwin Martin Complex, 125 Jewett Parkway,
Buffalo, NY - Frank Lloyd Wright - 1903-1905, 1909
The Darwin
Martin Complex consists of
five interconnected buildings designed as a unified composition,
including the main Martin House with a pergola that connects it
to a conservatory and carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters
and stables, the Barton House, a smaller residence for Martin’s
sister and brother-in-law, and a gardener’s cottage (added in
1909). It is considered one of
Frank Lloyd
Wright's penultimate Prairie style designs and one of his master
works. Darwin Martin was introduced to Mr. Wright by his
brother William for whom Wright designed the William Martin
House in Oak Park, Illinois. The property also contains the
Greatbatch Pavilion visitor
welcome and interpretive center.
