May 17, 2006 Atmosphere is
lively, slightly crowded, a bit rustic as the facility is starting to be a
bit dated. The grill is predominantly displayed behind the hostess podium
accentuates the point that this is a steakhouse first and foremost although
they feature a broad selection of seafood as well. The restaurant is
nationally recognized and carries several major awards. It is affiliated
with the neighboring Vito's Chophouse which is apparent as they have almost
identical menus. Vito's winelist is broader and deeper and the decor newer
and fresher being a new facility.
Atmosphere - 4/5
Food - The beef is aged and carefully selected and cut
daily on premises by the staff. There is a broad
selection of beef and seafood and an adequate
selection of starters and deserts. The servings are super-sized and come ala
carte. Steaks were good
but not exceptional. Their style to offer massive desserts detracts from
their effectiveness as they force sharing of one selection vs. individual
selections by each diner.
Food - 4/5
Wine - The wine list is broad and deep. They have a
reasonable corkage policy allowing special dinners to be enjoyed with
special wines which was important since we had a special group and occasion. See
Wine Journal.
Wine - 4/5
Service was adequate but not particularly personable or attentive.
