My work as a volunteer certified docent/interpreter and research captain for the
Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust is enriched by my knowledge of work by Wright and his contemporaries. Here is my photo gallery of prairie style architecture and FLW sites I have visited as part of my travels and studies.
|
My photos have been published on PBS, in text books,
children's books including but not limited to:
Frank Lloyd Wright's
$10,000 Home: History, Design, and Restoration of the Bach House,
by
Robert J. Hartnett, Hilton Publishing: Chicago, 2019;
"Designing a Place Called Home: Reordering the Suburbs
for Lifestyles and the Environment, Second Edition", by James W.
Wentling, FAIA; "Frank Lloyd
Wright: The Man who Played with Blocks", and on the cover of the
novel,
Facade for a Penny Arcade,
by James Reiss, published by Spuyten Duyvil, and the book,
An Architectural Laboratory: The Oak Park Studio
of Frank Lloyd Wright by Lisa D. Schrenk, published
by the University of Chicago Press in 2020, and current contributing to
Maureen Meister's upcoming book tentatively titled "Arts
& Crafts Architecture Across America". Maureen Meister, Ph.D., is an
academic art historian who has published other books on architectural
history (see
other Maureen Meister books ). |
Recently, my
photography was selected for the "Finn Juhl and Danish Chairs"
Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art. The
exhibition highlights some of the Finn Juhl's design
works well-received in the United States. Finn Juhl's FJ45
chair was featured in Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater house, shown
in my photographs of the site, selected for the Exhibition. The
exhibition ran from July to October 2022. |
Many thanks to John Panning and his
amazing Prairie School Traveler site for making many of these discoveries possible, and,
to the docent interpreters at sites I have visited. I look forward to seeing you at the
Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park, Illinois. |
