2005 - 91-93 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate January 2007 - Possibly the finest Reignac I have ever tasted from proprietor Yves Vatelot, this superlative blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon is treated like a spoiled child, aged on its lees, and bottled unfiltered. There are over 16,000 cases of this cuvee, which should be uncommonly long-lived for a wine of this pedigree. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by a sweet nose of blackberries, cherries, smoke, and pain grille. Deep, full-bodied, moderately tannic, fresh, and well-delineated, with 14% natural alcohol, it should drink well for 10-12 years. (No tasting note was provided in Issue 170. We have instead included the text of the tasting note from Issue 164)
2003 - 90-91 points Robert Parker: "A big, broadly-styled Reignac, with more alcohol than usual (about 13.5%), the deep ruby/purple-hued 2003 offers a big, smoky, chocolatey, black currant, licorice, and pain grille-scented bouquet. This broad, voluptuous, succulently-textured offering is more forward than most Reignacs. Anticipated maturity: now-2012." (04/05) Please Note - The 2003 Bordeaux futures will be bottled from April 2005 to August 2005 (approx.) and sent here sometime between January 2006 and July 2007 (with few possible exceptions delayed further). When the wines arrive we will contact you (via US Postal Service) to request shipping instructions.

Firm tannins prevail from beginning throughout the long finish - strong currant, berry and raspberry with cedar tones.WS 93 - - Wine Spectator review - "A classy wine that's rich and intense, with a concentrated mix of mineral, currant, blackberry, dusty herb and cedary oak flavors. Though deep and well-structured, this maintains a sense of elegance and grace, making it a good choice for near- and mid-term cellaring. Best from 2008 through 2014. 10,687 cases made. J.L." 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(15.2% alcohol) Ruby-red. Pure but tight aromas of blackcurrant, licorice, minerals and graphite. Sweet, dense and rich, with enticing flavors of dark berries, licorice and chocolatey oak. This and the Stags Leap bottling are aged in 50% to 75% new oak, while the Napa release gets just 25%. This struck me as a sweeter, longer, more concentrated version of the Napa Valley release." (May/Jun 07)

1993 RP 90: "In my October tasting both 1993 Cabernets were more tannic and closed than the 1992s. The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is one of the more tannic and backward wines I have tasted from Silver Oak. Now that it has been bottled, it has closed down, displaying far less lushness and obvious concentration than it did last year. The color remains a healthy dark ruby/purple, and the nose offers earthy, toasty new oak, and sweet black fruit aromas. Tight, yet powerful and rich, this full-bodied, dense, atypically backward Cabernet Sauvignon does not possess Silver Oak's usual approachability and precociousness. Nevertheless, this wine has plenty of merit. It should drink well after 3-5 years of cellaring, and last for 15+ years." (12/96)
    1991
1985 1500 -  94 points Robert Parker: "The classically-styled 1985 Napa bottling exhibits a huge, sweet, jammy, cassis, and toasty nose that soars from the glass. Full-bodied, soft, and velvety-textured, with outstanding concentration and a smooth as silk finish, this fully mature wine is capable of lasting another 10-15 years." (04/95)
1982 1500 WS: Deep ruby colored, full-bodied and full of ripe, clean cassis and mint flavors, of great depth, elegance and finesse, this is one of the greatest Silver Oak wines we've ever tasted. 96 POINTS.

1996 RP 92 - The dark ruby-colored 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley exhibits a pronounced smoky, espresso bean, and kirsch-scented nose. Round, dense, rich, full-bodied, and open-knit, its low acid flavors are undeniably appealing. Black olives make an appearance in the wine's aromatics as it sits in the glass. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.
1993 RP 90 The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley offers up a whiff of herbs in its tight nose, followed by chocolatey, spicy, black-cherry, and cassis flavors, an exotic, medium to full-bodied, concentrated palate, and moderate tannin in the lusty finish. It does not possess the definition and structure of the Napa cuvee, but it is more forward and fleshy. These All-American Cabernet Sauvignons continue to be "can't miss" propositions with the majority of Cabernet lovers. The full-bodied 1993 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers peppery, blackcurrant-scented aromas, as well as gobs of cherry and cassis fruit. Approachable now, it should drink well for 10-20 years as I detect more tannin and structure.
1991 92 points Robert Parker: "The 1991 boasts a dark ruby color, a rich, ostentatious, sweet vanillin, herb, and blackcurrant-scented nose, and gobs of rich, herb-tinged, juicy fruit, the opulent texture that Silver Oak routinely obtains. There is plenty of fat, glycerin, and alcohol in the long finish. Both wines are already delicious, and will age gracefully for 12-15 years." 91 points Wine Spectator: "Lavishly oaked, with an herb and dill edge to the currant and berry fruit. It is a rich and harmonious style, with layers of flavor. Firmly tannic, it can stand cellaring into 1998 to 2000 and still be massive."

This is a huge, dark brooding wine with terrific extract for a Pinot Noir. Like many Oregon Pinots this one has real Burgundy style as opposed to the flamboyant, fruit bomb American style. Connoisseur’s Guide had this to say about the previous vintage: 2002 SINEANN Pinot Noir Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine  Volume 28 Issue 12: October 2004 Rated 91 -  “ Nicely concentrated red cherry aromas are filled out by complex notes of root beer and dried brush along with the sweet overlay of rich and creamy oak. Medium-full in body and sporting the velvety texture of Pinot, this solid effort picks up a spine of tannin by way of structure and is less overtly acidic than many Oregonian bottlings in these pages. A few years in bottle will see it round and smooth out even more.”
