Rallying behind a new quarterback and a stingy defense, Naperville Central romps 35-0.

In control Out of the shadows, backup helps lead Redhawks to win Naperville Central met Wheaton Warrenville South for the 80th time Friday. The Tigers lead the series 49-31 since they began playing the Redhawks in 1913.number:0 Central coach Joe Bunge has never coached a team to four consecutive shutouts to begin a season. The Redhawks have outscored teams 160-0 this year. Pittsfield's 1970 squad was the last team to allow zero points through an entire season. number:50 Central punter Kyle Adams unleashed a 50-yard punt from the Redhawks 15-yard line into the hands of a South player at the 35-yard line. Adams kicked the ball from his 5-yard line, sending the ball 60 yards in the air. number:10 Junior quarterback Phil Horvath
extended his two-year winning streak to 10 games. 

Horvath led the sophomore team to a 9-0 record last season and earned his first varsity win in his first varsity start Friday.QUARTER BY QUARTER 1st quarter Junior running back Kyle Griffith carries the ball nine times for 48 yards. He finishes Central's 10-play drive — including nine rushing plays — with a 3-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead. Central leads 7-0. 2nd quarter Wheaton Warrenville South continues interchanging quarterbacks Dan Brauer and Ed Adamson, but it doesn't help the Tigers find the end zone. 

The Tigers' 13 plays in the second quarter conclude with pressure from Central's Drew Kocsis, Joe Alvarez and Chris Hill. Central finds the end zone twice. Central leads 21-0 3rd quarter South's John Aister intercepts Phil Horvath on the fourth play of Central's opening drive. The Tigers' next possession ends on the third play when Kocsis blind-sides the quarterback, who fumbles the football. Central's Ken Kottke recovers the ball and trots approximately 42 yards for the touchdown, but referees rule the ball down. Central capitalized on the turnover when Yellin ran one yard for a touchdown and a 28-0 lead. Central leads 28-0 

4th quarter Horvath starts the fourth quarter leaving the pocket for a 16-yard touchdown run with 11:54 left to play in the game. Kyle Adams kicks his fifth extra point for a 35-0 Redhawks lead. The Redhawks defense stifles South's final shot at ruining Central's shutout streak as Luka Ulicevic misses a 43-yard field goal with 2:27 remaining in the game. Central wins 35-0
