Wisconsin may have found the eventual successor to
sophomore quarterback Brooks Bollinger when the Badgers
secured an oral commitment from Naperville Central star
Owen Daniels.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound Daniels is living up to his
reputation as one of the Midwest's top quarterbacks in
leading the Redhawks to a 3-0 start. He opened the season
passing for 223 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-0
victory over Lockport. No. 1-ranked Naperville Central
(3-0) has outscored its opponents 125-0 with Daniels
completing 31 of 36 passes for 583 yards and seven
touchdowns, plus a pair of TD runs.
"I was in Madison over the weekend on my official visit and
watched them beat Oregon," Daniels said. "I got to walk
through the tunnel onto the field, and that gave me goose
bumps. That is just an awesome place to play football.
"Wisconsin was the best fit for me academically and
athletically, and it's close enough to home so my family
can see me play."
