Atmosphere is very formal although policy allows for business casual (jackets optional) dress code. The room is dark with high ceilings, adorned by arms and old flags with an almost mid-evil ambiance. Wood paneled walls, high stuffed chairs provides for a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately they crammed our party of seven into a booth for six despite the fact the room was two thirds empty. The room is laid out well for well spaced seating that allows for intimate dining despite a packed room. The restaurant is inside the Palace Arms hotel in the downtown section of Denver.
Atmosphere - 4/5

Food - The menu selection is a bit limited. Its ironic they bill themselves as a steak restaurant but the only beef offering was Kobe beef. I'd expect the best Colorado beef to be on offer. Perhaps there's a message here. The food was elegantly prepared and presented although some dishes such as the lobster was less than optimally prepared. Our party had scallops, lobster, venison, and 'surf and turf' selection of ahi tuna and beef tenderloin concocted by a 'double' appetizer as an entree. Its a pity that four of the seven had to opt for such selections in Denver. The overall experience is a bit further diminished by their New York prices for a Denver dining experience.
Food - 3.5/5

Wine - The Wine Spectator Best Award winning wine list is broad and deep although generally uninspiring and with few imaginative selections. There are quality selections from California, Washington, France, Australia, and Italy. The overall experience was diminished substantially by their non-corkage policy despite prior arrangement made by phone. They reversed their position although with an unreasonable and uncivil $50 corkage fee.

Wine - 3.5/5

Service was personable, attentive,  yet unobtrusive and overbearing, except for the disappointing disagreement over the wine policy, and a quirky situation where they didnt have enough menu's to accommodate our group of seven despite the restaurant being two-thirds empty. This was due to a large group in a separate private dining room. It was a bit awkward and unfortunately unnerving following on the heals of the wine corkage fiasco.
Service - 3.5/5

Overall Rating - 14.5/20
